Why Does In-House Procurement Matter?

Without internal purchasing design firms lose control over order accuracy and integrity. The communication gap created by third-party purchasing removes reliability and predictability.

You also need a process that empowers designers and project managers to take action when supply chain problems threaten deliveries.

StudioSIX5 is Forging a Strong Supply Chain
For Your Developments

Interior Design products delivered late due to supply chain problems is not an option at StudioSIX5

StudioSIX5’s in-house procurement department has implemented aggressive strategies to ensure your products are manufactured as designed and delivered according to your schedule.

We own the entire design-to-delivery lifecycle, which is imperative, especially now when the supply chain is so fragile.

Three of StudioSIX5’s Strategic Supply Chain Tactics:

Early Ordering – Our Purchasing and Design Teams are working closely together to be able to order product earlier in the design process. This means decisions normally reserved for later in the design cycle are being made sooner. This one simple step reveals any hidden supply chain issues and allows designers and clients to select comparable alternatives that are available when the order is placed.

Made in the USA – Products shipped from foreign shores are extremely vulnerable to container and vessel shortages as well as port disruptions. By primarily looking for products warehoused and/or made in America, we avoid these risks. This also lets us avoid paying the high surcharges of ocean freight and brokerage fees, which can add up to 3 times the cost of the product.

Another benefit to buying domestic is the ability to quickly reorder damaged products or those not manufactured to spec.

Control of Local Warehousing and Logistics – Critical to successful product delivery are logistics and warehousing. Like procurement, this is not outsourced. We maintain complete control of where your products are staged, inspected and how and when they are delivered.
